Future Forum's recommendations and the govt. response - Research and Innovation

Two different notes on the Future Forum's recommendations in regard to the Health and Social care bill - both of which mention the use of patient data for research. The second of these is the government's response:

The chair of the RCGP, Dr Clare Gerada, wrote to Prime Minister David Cameron asking for an assurance that the clauses would not force doctors to breach their duty of confidentiality to patients.

The DH responded, “We will consider further how to amend the Bill to protect patient confidentiality in a way that supports our plans to drive quality improvement through greater access to information; and to promote high quality research.”
